Due to some unknown reason maps that I have edited are causing the Whoshack NoSkilz server to crash. It has been suggested that the new patch 3369 may be the cause but this is not the first time my maps have been suspect.
I have seen 3 resets in the last 2 hours each time after one of the maps that I edited.

For this reason I am going to pull the maps I worked on, I am sure Robster Craws has the originals still.

If you have any of the following on your server you may want to pull them your self.

Any version of VCTF-DR-Huge-SDR (most resets after one of these maps)
VCTF-WS-0HR-Splash
VCTF-WS-0HR-Splash-a
VCTF-WS-Antropolis
VCTF-WS-Basically
VCTF-WS-Basically-r1
VCTF-WS-DK-BarnBurner
VCTF-WS-Marsbase-2049-v3
VCTF-WS-Spacebase2k4beta1 or 2 or 3
VCTF-WS-Junglebattles-v2


These maps may have nothing wrong with them but at this time they are prime suspects
I am sorry if this causes any problems'
I am going to rebuild my computer system and start working on replacing each from a clean install.

I am having a problem that I am hoping someone can help me with. I was able to get the VCTF-WS-StupidColaWars2k5Beta and VCTF-WS-StupidDeathRocket2K4 maps to work just fine, and we love them.

But I am having problems getting the VCTF-WS-SpaceBase2K4Beta and VCTF-WS-StupidDeathRocketSquare2K4Beta maps to work.  The problem I've run into is that the StrangeLove's fail to explode upon impact!  I thought that maybe I didn't have the right version of StrangeLove, so I've tried installing 4 different versions ... StrangeLove34, StrangeLove, StrangeLove55, and StrangeLove55rc2, all to no avail.

Any ideas what may be the cause? Indifferent

Hi,

The spacebace map has a dependancy on the Anim and Texture file for the strangelove. They are:
StrangeLoveTex55.utx
StrangeLoveAnim55.ukx


If you install the files on your server that should be good.  Also, you might want to have the  Strangelove55rc2.StrangeloveOldSkool as the only strangelove mutator running on your server.  Because it sounds like you might have a couple of versions running and it is causing you problems (or perhaps running an older version of the SL).

Also when you say fail to explode on impact?  Does this happen to you all the time?  Or did you notice it happening to others when they play?

The reason I say this is because when you are flying the SL, you can hit alt fire to disable the warhead, and voila, no explosion on impact.

Just a thought....

Thanks for the quick reply.  I do have the animation and texture files loaded, and the mutator you refer to is the first one I put on. The others I put on afterwards just trying to get it to work.

Now I don't put StrangeLove in tie game startup script, I just let the maps bring them in if they want to use it.  And like I said, it works just fine in the VCTF-WS-StupidDeathRocket2K4 map.

It's not only not exploding after jumping off the rocket, but it doesn't even explode if you shoot it with the left mouse button like a redeemer.

So does it need to be designated as a mutator at game startup?  If so, how do you customize mutators for each map, instead of having it for every map?

The entry in the ut2004.ini file (besides the ServerPackages=StrangeLove55rc2) is:

Hi,

I don't think you need the ServerActors=... haven't used with the mutators before so I don't think it is an issue.

What other mutators are you using?  Perhaps one is conflicting.  What you can try is remove mutators you suspect may cause a problem one by one, and see if you can narrow it down that way.

And finally, take a look at your ut server log file.  I am sure if might give you warnings/errors when it doesn't explode and it might point you to the cause of the problem.

what you might want to do also is to make sure you have the cache (.ucl) and .int files in your ut2004/system folder.

if you do not have them you can create them using the ucc.exe located in ht e2t2004/system folder.

To do this you need to bring up the command prompt located in the
start->all programs->accessories folder.
navigate to your ut2k4/system folder and type the following

ucc exportcache StrangeLove55rc2.u (this produces StrangeLove55rc2.ucl)

and

ucc dumpint StrangeLove55rc2.u (this produces StrangeLove55rc2.int)

This will allow you to bring up the StrangeLove55 mutator when you use instant action or host a game.

I hope that this helps you with your problem.

you might want to do this with all the other mutators you want to use.

Just in case anyone else is having this problem, we've finally found the solution.  Since we are not using StrangeLoves as a default mutator for all games, we have to designate on a per-map basis. So in the ut2004.ini file, under the XInterface.MapListVehicleCTF section, where you have the Maps=VCTF-WS-SpaceBase2K4][ line, add the mutator here, i.e.:

Maps=VCTF-WS-SpaceBase2K4][?Mutators=StrangeLove55rc2.StrangeLoveOldSkool

Do that for each map that was not built to bring them in automatically, or each map that you want to specifically have them in when you don't have them as a default for all maps. You should also be able to replace the StrangeLoveOldSkool with StrangeLoveArena if that is the only weapon you want to use.
